Known as The Gateway to The Bahamas, this bustling little island is only 50 miles from Florida, and attracts day-trippers, fishermen, and casino-goers. The colorful community and stunning beaches attract those looking for a community-oriented getaway with various dining options, from international cuisine, to lean-to conch shacks. Its steeped with a rich history of shipwrecking, rum running, and haunts of Nobel Peace Prize winners. Its constant influx of comers and goers make this island dynamically influenced by a vast range of visitors, more-so than other Bahamian islands. Locals are not known to be as outwardly friendly as they are deeper into the Out Islands, but they are no less hospitable, and once you break the surface, they are enthusiastic about showing you what they love about their island.
